The second annual APAMSA HepB conference is dedicated to educating, inspiring, and empowering medical students with the tools they will need to conduct successful HepB outreach events. Chapter officers will be taught by leading hepatologists who will be attending the Association of American Study of Liver Diseases Meeting (AASLD) the essentials on HepB outreach, pathophysiology, and epidemiology. Students will hear personal stories and interact with a national delegation of students and physicians dedicated to eliminating Hepatitis B in the Asian American community.

Scholarships: Travel Scholarships will be available on a limited basis to subsidize student travel to attend this conference. Attendance and scholarships are limited to one per school.

Please read the APAMSA HepB How-to-Guide before the training session!!
- Students being housed in APAMSA hotel housing will be in The Midtown Hotel. Directions to hotel/airport/training site are below.
- Dress for Saturday--business casual or nicer. Professional attire.
- APAMSA How-to-Guide--Please read the APAMSA HepB How-to-guide, attached, BEFORE arriving. We will go over highlights of this during the training, but we won't have time to go over everything.
- Breaks/Food have been scheduled throughout the day. You will be well-fed. A reminder, however, that entry/exit into the room may be limited to breaks only so as not to disturb the filming.

Directions to The Midtown Hotel:
Attendeees seeking ground transport from Logan Airport to Midtown Hotel can pick up any shuttle bus from ground transportation and request them to drop you off at The Midtown Hotel. Midtown Hotel is one of the major hotels in the city and most
shuttle buses will stop at the hotel.
Should people be driving from the airport they can take the following route:
From Logan Airport:
- Follow signs for airport roadway or expressway, Route 93.
- Go through the Sumner Tunnel (toll charge) and go up the ramp (93 North).
- Follow the signs for Storrow Drive.
- Follow Storrow Drive heading west to Copley Square Exit (on left).
- Go through the set of lights onto Beacon Street.
- Follow Beacon Street to the fourth intersection (Beacon and Exeter Streets).
- Take a left onto Exeter Street.
- Follow Exeter Street all the way to the end. (Exeter intersects with Huntington Avenue).
- Take a right onto Huntington Avenue and go through two sets of lights. You will see The Midtown Hotel on the other side of the street. Stay to the right of the underpass and make a U-turn to the hotel.
The Midtown Hotel to Hilton Backbay (where training session will be held):
- Start out going Northeast on Huntington Ave toward MA-9
- Turn Left onto Belvidere St.
- Turn Right onto Dalton St.
- Total Estimate time: 6-7 minute walking distance

When to arrive/depart |
When to arrive/depart:
Non-local students are encouraged to arrive in Boston on Friday, November 2nd. A social event at a bar/club will be organized on the evening of November 2nd in collaboration with the Boston APAMSA chapters. Accommodations will be provided for one night at The Midtown Hotel.
Lunch will be provided on November 3rd.
* Note: You are responsible for your own housing if you choose to stay additional nights.
Accomodations: National APAMSA will cover the costs of accommodations for Friday November 2nd for one person per school. Students will be housed at The Midtown Hotel, which is conveniently a 6-7 minute walk to the Hilton.
Up to 4 same gender persons will be housed in one room with two double beds. If you require other housing specifications, you are responsible for arranging and paying for those yourself. National APAMSA will not cover the costs of any incidentals. Furthermore, National APAMSA will not cover the garage fee ($12/day) of Midtown Hotel's garage should guests wish to use park their car. |

Travel Scholarships |
Travel Scholarships: Each active APAMSA chapter who successfully RSVP'd by August 2nd is eligible to apply for a single travel scholarship to subsidize your travel.To be eligible for the scholarship:
- Scholarship recipients must send travel receipts to Anthony Chuang no later than october 15, 2007. Failure to comply will result in forfeit of reimbursement.
- Eligibility to attend the Hep B meeting is limited to registered APAMSA members from active chapters. Membership is free and available at http://www.apamsa.org/home/membership/form.php.
All students are asked to request travel assistance from your schools first, so that we can make our national funds go as far as possible. In addition, we are expecting you to utilize the least cost options of traveling to Boston, especially the East Coast schools (Driving, Chinatown bus, train, discount airlines, etc). Scholarships will be provided in the form of reimbursements at the close of the meeting on November 3rd. Reimbursements are contingent on your participation in the meeting.Upon receipt of your scholarship application, you will be sent an e-mail telling you the minimum amount that you will receive. Final decisions regarding scholarship amounts will be e-mailed to you on September 2nd.
PLEASE NOTE: Budget allocations for travel scholarships have been made based on airline quotes obtained on August 7th. You are therefore STRONGLY encouraged to apply for the scholarships early and also book your flight early. |

At registration, attendees have the option to request complimentary tickets to the 2007 Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD). This is a $300 value and a special arrangement for students who will be arriving early or staying late. Please see www.aasld.org for more info. Please DO NOT request AASLD tickets UNLESS YOU ARE SURE you can attend.
