The annual Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association Conference
(APAMSA) for New York/New Jersey will be held at Mount Sinai School of
Medicine on Saturday, April 5, 2008. The theme for this year's event will
be "Asian and Pacific Islander Pediatric Health".
The conference will feature:
- Speakers on international pediatric work and mental health
- Interactive human simulator demonstration
- Interactive Traditional Chinese Medicine workshop
- Lunch and dinner buffet
- After-party with fellow medical students in Manhattan
This event should be a great experience for anyone who is interested in
pediatrics, global health, or Asian/Pacific American health issues. This
year’s speakers (see the registration site below for a full list) will be
discussing their work in a variety of areas, ranging from health care for
orphans in Vietnam and China to local mental health issues. The
interactive workshops will be fun and exciting: you will have the chance
to "resuscitate" a high-tech dummy (inject "drugs", defibrillate, take its
pulse!) during the human simulator demonstration and have acupuncture
performed on you (or even perform it yourself!) during the TCM workshop.
Normal registration costs $20.99 and will be available until Wednesday,
March 26, 2008 at 11:55 pm. You may register online at the following site:

Please check the above site periodically for updates as the conference
draws closer. Feel free to email Alexander Le (ale@aecom.yu.edu) and
Melanie Liu (melanieliu329@gmail.com), the APAMSA Regional Directors for
NY/NJ with any questions concerning registration or the conference in
general.
We hope to see you in NYC this April!
