Getting the Word out to the Community

E-mail Print PDF
Raising awareness in your community might start by telling your friends and family or visit a local donor center or recruitment group with you. You can also order a few educational brochures and give them some information to read. You CAN make a difference in your community by starting with the people closest to you.

Suggested strategies:

  1. Raise awareness in your community by asking colleagues, families, and friends to log on to the NMDP website.
  2. Encourage potential donors to visit local donor center or recruitment groups in their area for more information about the blood stem cell and marrow, and cord blood donation.
  3. Educate potential donors by providing them access to blood stem cells, marrow, and cord blood donation.
  4. Encourage community members to participate as volunteers at recruitment drives, serve on Recruitment & Education committees, or sponsor or host a recruitment events
  5. Develop a venue for corporate sponsorship or individual contribution to make sure that funding is available for research, patient advocacy, and donor recruitment.
