For Potential Collaborator Organizations

Tell us who you are. Please email to international@apamsa.org with the following information.

  1. Is there a way for APAMSA members to be integrated into any of your pre-existing medical missions in a meaningful way? Would your organization be interested in some sort of collaboration with APAMSA?
  2. If you have any advice or references to other organizations or potential advisors we can talk to, we’d be really happy and grateful! Please let us know.
  3. We are open to anything else you’d like to share with us too.

“To repair children’s broken smiles, establish cleft treatment centers, and foster ancillary humanitarian projects in under-served areas of world through international collaboration among medical and non-medical volunteers and corporate and individual sponsors. Alliance for Smiles organizes and sends surgical teams to sites for two week missions. A surgical team is comprised of approximately 20 volunteer plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, nurses and dentists. They are supported by 10 non-medical volunteers. During a mission, 80 to 120 underserved children receive surgery for cleft lip & palate anomalies. The AFS team works side-by-side with local medical practitioners to exchange ideas on proper medical techniques and procedures, as well as provide follow-up care. Learn more about volunteering for a mission.”

Alliance for Smiles needs a few volunteer interpreters who are fluent Mandarin speakers for the upcoming medical missions listed above. Volunteers will be able to be in the operating room for all procedures. This is a wonderful opportunity for students, particularly those interested in surgery, pediatrics, and anesthesiology. If interested, please find application forms here: http://www.allianceforsmiles.org/volunteer_mission.php
