The Health Advocacy Initiative is now accepting applications for the National Health Advocacy Committee! Be a part of national advocacy efforts to increase awareness about API health disparities through public service announcements and policy updates. Fight these disparities by lobbying for bills that address API health disparities and creating advocacy toolkits and competency training modules to aid advocacy efforts at chapters around the country.
The positions on the committee are:
- Secretary (1)
- Creates and updates directory of chapter liaisons and NHAC contacts
- Further recruits and manages contact with chapter liaisons
- Current Affairs Chair (2)
- Focuses on major health disparities of the API community and policies that combat such disparities
- Plans/organizes efforts to raise awareness and support for these policies
- Responsible for writing monthly policy summaries to be included in the national newsletter (~ 5 lines)
- Advocacy Chair (1)
- Assembles advocacy tool kits (how to increase votership, how to initiate curriculum changes, how to recruit the support of congressmen)
- Creates informational powerpoints, documents, and public service announcements
