Below you will find information about potential funding sources for your hepatitis B outreach initiatives.

2012 APAMSA Hepatitis B Education Grant 

The grant award is $250 and is to be used to hold talks on hepatitis B.

Deadline: 
February 29, 2012, 11:59 pm PST (for activities between mid-March and June 1, 2012)
March 31, 2012, 11:59 pm PST (for activities between mid-April and June 1, 2012)
April 30, 2012, 11:59 pm PST (for activities between mid-May and June 1, 2012)

Application

2012 APAMSA Hepatitis B Screening and Education Grants

These grants are offered yearly.  The amounts this year are as follows:

Gold Screening Chapter Grants of $1500 each
Silver Screening Chapter Grants of $1000 each
Bronze Screening Chapter Grants of $750 each
Education Grants (to host talks on hepatitis B) of $250 each

Project Ideas:
If your chapter is new to this below are some examples of hepatitis B projects your chapter can carry out.

Sample Education Projects

  1. Invite guest speakers (e.g. hepatologists, GIs, public health experts, patients and/or families affected by HBV) to hold educational seminars targeting high-risk patients at large community festivals, community clinics, supermarkets, restaurants, refuge centers, and organizations
  2. Hold educational seminars in dorms, classrooms, health fairs and churches
  3. Organize educational classes where participants become certified to educate others on hepatitis

Sample Screening Projects

  1. Provide free screenings and/or vaccinations at street fairs
  2. Incorporate a hepatitis clinic at a community clinic or at a mobile clinic that aids underserved communities
  3. Work with the Red Cross or local health department in implementing hepatitis screenings
