Van Dexter Calo, South East Asian Committee Member

Van Dexter Calo is a rising M3 attending the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. He was born and raised in Mindanao, Philippines and later moved to the U.S. in 2006 where he lived in NYC and Chicago before settling in Phoenix, AZ. Van Dexter attended Arizona State University for his undergraduate studies majoring in Medical Studies with a certificate in Hospice and Palliative Care. During his gap year, he continued his work as a Community Health Worker (CHW) part of Asian Pacific Community in Action (APCA) to provide resources and advocate for health equity for the AANHPI community in Arizona. When he entered medical school, he has been active with the APAMSA chapter and later served as the Co-President in his second year. His passion lies in serving the community especially the underserved as part of the Primary Care Scholars Program at UACOM-P. Outside of school, Van Dexter enjoys traveling, content creation, and trying out new restaurants and cultural foods!
