FAQs

Writing an op-ed with APAMSA is an opportunity to reflect, advocate, and contribute to conversations that matter in medicine and public health. The series is designed to amplify diverse voices while offering a supportive pathway to publication and a tangible, publishable contribution.

All APAMSA members are encouraged to submit, including general members, national and regional board members, and medical students at any stage of training. No prior writing or publishing experience is required.

We welcome op-eds related to advocacy, health equity, AANHPI health, medical education, identity and culture in medicine, community engagement, public health, health policy, and personal narratives relevant to medicine.

Submissions do not need to be academic. Thoughtful, reflective, narrative-driven, and opinion-based pieces are encouraged.

Selected submissions will receive editorial feedback. Finalized pieces may be published on the APAMSA website and shared through APAMSA platforms.

Yes. Published op-eds may be cited as organizational publications and included on CVs as advocacy or scholarly contributions.
