Nhu Do is a second year medical student at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She was born in Ho Chi Minh City and immigrated to Kansas when she was 10 years old. Since then, she completed her bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Biology at University of Missouri–Kansas City.

Seeking a stronger AANHPI community, she revived the Vietnamese Student Association at her alma mater and joined Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association as an M1. APAMSA has given her a strong sense of community and mentorship throughout her first year of medical school, and she hopes to continue fostering that within her local chapter and the Kansas City community. She currently serves as Co-President of her local chapter and is excited to help host Kansas City’s first APAMSA regional conference. Through advocacy, outreach, and mentorship initiatives, she hopes to continue expanding APAMSA both locally and nationally.

She is passionate about raising awareness of health disparities affecting Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities through community initiatives, conferences, and preventive health education. Her interests include community medicine, advocacy, and gastroenterology, and she hopes to promote greater awareness of preventive health screening in underserved populations.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, doing pottery, playing pickleball, making flower bouquets, and spending time with her Shiba Inu.
