Allan Chen, Obstetrics & Gynecology Student Representative

Allan Chen is currently a 3rd year medical student at Duke University School of Medicine. He grew up in Denver, Colorado and graduated from Duke University in 2021 with a BS in Biology. Since then, he has worked as a medical assistant in orthopedic surgery and completed a Fulbright Scholarship in Mexico. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, baking, watching NFL, music festivals/concerts, and karaoke-ing to Taylor Swift. He hopes to pursue a career in gynecological or surgical oncology and continue his work teaching and working with Hispanic and Asian populations.
James Bautista, Internal Medicine Student Representative

James is a second-year medical student at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) in Fort Worth, TX. He started in APAMSA as his local chapter President and is now excited to serve y’all as the Internal Medicine Student Representative! What he loves most about APAMSA is finding such a great and supportive community among like-minded students. He is interested in a career in internal medicine or dermatology. Outside of academics, James enjoys playing the violin and tennis, reading, embroidering, and cooking/baking Filipino dishes.
Stefan Wei, Surgery Student Representative

Stefan Wei is currently a 2nd year medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. He grew up in Davis, California and graduated from UC Davis in 2022 with a BS in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. Since his time as an undergraduate, Stefan has found fulfillment in promoting unity and collaboration within his local AANHPI communities. As a member of the Student Specialty Section, he looks forward to using his previous experiences to create impactful and sustainable structures that will empower students’ professional development all while fostering a supportive culture. Outside of school, he enjoys snowboarding, traveling, cooking, and watching sports (LIGHT THE BEAM).
Daniel Li, Anesthesiology Student Representative

Daniel is an MSII at McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas, where he currently serves as co-president of his local APAMSA chapter. His academic interests include cancer pain, perioperative medicine, and medical education. Beyond school, he enjoys running, playing soccer, and spending time with his cat (Peanut)!
Nathaniel Padre, Emergency Medicine Student Representative

Nathaniel Padre is a first-year medical student at the Jacobs School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo. Originally from the Pacific Northwest and a proud Filipino American, he later moved to New York City where he completed his Bachelor’s in Evolutionary Biology and Master’s in Human Nutrition at Columbia University. Prior to medical school, he pursued a career in dance in Los Angeles and participated in medical mission work in the Philippines, experiences that strengthened his commitment to global health equity and serving underserved communities. As a future emergency physician, Nate is passionate about uplifting AANHPI voices and advancing equitable, culturally responsive care. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, Solidcore, playing Pokémon games, and snagging hard-to-get Resys at new restaurants.
Gun Moon, Psychiatry Student Representative

Gun Ho Moon is a medical student at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine with a passion for psychiatry, palliative care, and narrative medicine. His interests center on neuromodulation and its potential to advance mental health treatment. He is currently involved in a neuromodulation research lab, contributing to papers on electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and ketamine. Outside of medicine, he enjoys writing, producing music, and watching boxing.

Hi everyone! My name is Bernadine Decapia, and I’m an OMS-I at TCOM. My passion lies in psychiatry, particularly in serving the AANHPI community and addressing the mental health needs of children and adolescents. In my free time, I love playing piano, trying new restaurants around the Dallas-Fort Worth area with friends, and hanging out with my cat Meep. I am excited to be a part of this team and help promote mental health through advocacy, education, and community engagement.

Hi! I’m David Chanju Kim, a medical and MPH student at UCLA and a member of APAMSA’s National Mental Health Committee. My passion for health equity is deeply personal—my father’s struggle to access life-saving care before receiving a heart transplant shaped my commitment to advocating for underserved Asian American communities. My research focuses on mental health disparities, culturally competent care, and access barriers among immigrant populations. Through APAMSA, I hope to help break stigma, elevate community voices, and advance policies that lead to lasting change.

Jennifer Huynh is a second-year medical student at McGovern Medical School. She earned her B.S. in Psychobiology from UCLA, where she was actively engaged in initiatives promoting hepatitis B awareness, nutrition education, and care for older adults. At McGovern, she continues to pursue these passions by volunteering with organizations in Houston, TX that advance AANHPI health. Beyond her academic and clinical interests, she enjoys crocheting, reading mystery/thriller books, and gardening.
