Alex Tai, Mental Health Committee Member

National Board Bio

Alex Tai is a third-year medical student born and raised in Houston, Texas. He was the president of the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine APAMSA chapter in New Mexico. As the child of immigrants and refugees, his journey in medicine has deepened his commitment to ensuring displaced and underserved communities receive compassionate, trauma-informed care. He is passionate about equipping AANHPI medical students and physicians with the tools to address some of the most complex and nuanced challenges in healthcare. Outside of school, he enjoys cooking, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with his fiancée and their two cats, Joan and Lily.



Jeri Tan, Mental Health Committee Member

National Board Bio

Jeri Tan is a third-year at UMass Chan Medical School. Before medical school, she worked in community mental health and taught behavioral and emotional coping skills to at-risk youth. Her experiences from this role have shown her that mental and physical health are significantly intertwined, thus highlighting a need for increased mental health awareness and education. As a member of the National APAMSA Mental Health Committee, she hopes to reduce health disparities by increasing mental health resource accessibility, advocating for the well-being of patients and medical professionals, and combating the stigma against mental health in the AANHPI community.



Kevin Shi, Hepatitis Committee Member

National Board Bio

Kevin Shi is a fourth-year medical student at UTHealth Houston McGovern Medical School. He was born in Auburn, Alabama, and has also lived in California and now Texas for most of his life, including receiving a B.S.A in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. He is passionate about APAMSA, especially the Hepatitis Initiative and how it has allowed him to be an advocate for people with disease, including those in his own family. After medical school, he interested in internal medicine and hopes to pursue a career in gastroenterology.



Nick Sze, Hepatitis Committee Member

National Board Bio

Nick Sze is an MS4 at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He was born in New York and moved to Ohio at a young age, where he has lived since. Nick completed his undergraduate at Ohio University in biological sciences. His interests include primary care, hospital medicine, preventive health, palliative care, and patient advocacy. Previously, Nick served as the Co-president and Hepatitis Chair of the Wright State APAMSA chapter and as Hepatitis Commitee and Region V Director for National APAMSA. Outside of medical school, he enjoys birdwatching, travelling, running, and weight lifting.



Rudy Ji, Health Equity Committee Member

National Board Bio

Rudy Ji is currently a second-year medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). He was born in Galveston, Texas to immigrant parents from China and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S.A. in Biochemistry and a B.A. in Sociology. After college, he worked as a research assistant at UTMB during his gap year and remains involved in both clinical studies and animal model research. He has spent the past year involved in UTMB’s local APAMSA chapter and currently serves as Vice President. He is passionate about advancing research and improving care for AANHPI populations. Outside of school, he enjoys weightlifting, playing board games, and playing tennis and pickleball. After graduation, he aims to pursue a career in orthopedics, anesthesiology, or radiology.



Christin Tran, Health Equity Committee Member

Christin Tran is a second-year medical student at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Colorado. She is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and her parents immigrated from Bac Lieu, Vietnam. Christin completed her B.S. in Chemistry at Georgia State University. She enjoys the intersection between the sciences and taking care of others, especially her roots with the Asian American population. She hopes to become an anesthesiologist and continue to integrate compassionate and cultural care as a future physician.



Grace Armstrong, Community Outreach Committee Member

Grace Zhou Armstrong is a third-year medical student at Indiana University School of Medicine and will be starting a year-long research fellowship in Dermatology this summer at Northwestern. She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and grew up in the Chicago area. Grace received a B.A. in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis. Since her first year of medical school, she has served on the board of her local Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) chapter as a First-Year Representative, Campus Representative, and Education Chair. This year, she will serve as a member of the National APAMSA Community Outreach Committee. Grace is passionate about community service, health equity, and working with underserved and minority populations.



Alice Dang, Community Outreach Committee Member

Alice Dang is a first-year medical student at the UNT Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) in Fort Worth, Texas. She was raised in Houston, Texas, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Trinity University in San Antonio. During her gap year, she moved to the Bay Area where she conducted research at the Stanford Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC).

After attending the 2025 APAMSA Regions IV and IX Regional Conference, Alice was inspired to deepen her involvement at the national level. She currently serves as the incoming Vice President of her local APAMSA chapter and is eager to contribute to broader initiatives within the organization. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, hosting dinner parties, attending live music events, and volunteering with the street medicine community. Following medical school, she plans to pursue a career in either general anesthesiology or internal medicine.



Anne Wang, Community Outreach Committee Member

Anne Wang is a second year medical student at the University of Texas Medical Branch John Sealy School of Medicine. She is from Atlanta, GA and attended Rice University for undergrad. She is interested in anesthesiology and excited to serve on the community outreach commitee!



Romi Jin Sheng, Podcast Committee Member

National Board Bio

Romi Sheng is a first-year medical student at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, New York. Raised by her immigrant mother in New York City, she has witnessed firsthand the barriers that members of the AANHPI community face. She has been committed to serving marginalized and vulnerable populations in all of her endeavors: designing affordable housing complexes as an architecture student at Carnegie Mellon University, helping undocumented patients obtain affordable surgical care at the University of Pennsylvania’s Pre-Health Post-Bac Program, and caring for children ages 0-3 with developmental delays, disabilities, and medical conditions during her gap years. She also has a strong interest in global health and is planning on serving communities in eastern Jamaica this June, where individuals have little or no access to healthcare.

Romi is curious about the intersection of art and medicine and enjoys working with her hands, so she hopes to pursue a career in surgery (currently fascinated by Cardiothoracic Surgery) while continuing to fulfill her lifelong commitment to the underserved. Outside of academics, she loves to travel, shoot some hoops, and root for the Warriors!!!
